Rob Aronoff '84

Brother Aronoff joined Sigma Phi Epsilon in 1981 and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1984. After graduation, Rob accepted a engineering position with IBM in Tucson, where he helped develop automated manufacturing equipment. He was honored to receive the “IBM Invention Achievement Award”. Later he furthered his education by receiving an M.B.A in Finance and Management from the University of Texas at Austin.

Currently, Rob is a distinguished figure in the Arizona property management community with 25 years of experience in residential and commercial management. Rob joined Scotia Group Management, LLC. in 1993, as an Asset Manager, and is now the owner overseeing strategic planning and growth of the company, as well as directing a portfolio of nearly 7,000 apartments, commercial properties and over 200 employees.

In 2006, Rob’s closest and dearest friend, Steve Gootter, suddenly passed away from Sudden Cardiac Death Syndrome. He was a beloved member of Sig Ep who is still remembered fondly by the Arizona Beta brothers. With the help of the Gootter family, the Steven M. Gootter Foundation was established in which Rob was a founding member and treasurer for 10 years. During his service, the foundation raised nearly $3.0 million for the support of sudden cardiac death research, outreach initiatives and the distribution of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators).

Rob now serves on both the Foundation and Mentor Boards for Arizona Beta. As a volunteer, he has a renewed dedication to SigEp and truly enjoys his involvement. By contributing as a mentor, he finds it fulfilling to have the opportunity for a one-on-one connection with the executive team members to help guide them in their decisions and leadership of the Chapter. He also enjoys serving on the Foundation that provides merit and need based scholarships in which Rob hopes that he is able to make a difference in the recipient’s years at the U of A and perhaps their careers.

Rob and his wife, LaDonna, will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary this coming June. LaDonna was a Pi Phi at the U of A where they met on a blind date in 1984. They have three terrific daughters – Rachel, Janelle and Hannah.
